    ‘Pastel and Gouache a Dynamic Duo’ One Day workshop with Richard Suckling

    On this one day workshop we will be combining soft pastel and gouache to create exciting mixed media paintings which demonstrate how well these two mediums work together. The emphasis of the workshop will be to take risks and experiment with this combination to create textures and effects which add another element to the painting process. Subject matter will be varied and students may use their own reference material should they wish. The workshop is primarily aimed at soft pastel artists but has something to offer mixed media artists as well and is suitable for all levels.

    A home cooked lunch and all refreshments are included.

    ‘What to use and what to lose’ One Day Pastel workshop with Richard Suckling

    On this one day soft pastel workshop we will be tackling how we can simplify a subject for maximum effect. Editing a complicated scene and capturing the essentials in any medium can be challenging and we will look at various techniques which allow us to do this successfully. This approach will help painters loosen up and not be trapped by the unnecessary detail in a subject  whilst still allowing us to capture the essence of the motif. This workshop is suitable for pastel artists of all abilities including beginners and will have something to offer painters in other mediums dealing with this aspect of the painting process.

    Flower Power with Soft Pastels Weekend workshop with Richard Suckling

    Price range: £60.00 through £260.00
    A two day pastel workshop tackling flowers both in a garden setting and as a still life subject. Soft pastels are particularly well suited to capturing floral subjects and in this class we will use an expressive approach to celebrate this popular subject matter. Bold colour use and experimentation  will be encouraged to create an exciting contemporary feel to our paintings. Photographic reference will be provided but students especially if also gardeners may wish to use their own reference material. During the two days we will look at the importance of composition, colour palette, tonal range and of course mark making in an effort to break the necessary steps down into an achievable process.  This two day workshop is suitable for pastel artists of all levels including beginners.
