The art club is for any child between the ages of 5 and 15 years old of age who has an interest in art. In each session children will use a different media to complete a piece to bring home. You will need to book a place per child in advance of each art club day. When booking please add your child/s name in the booking notes. On the day, Please dress your child in suitable clothing to get messy in and also bring along an apron. Please provide your child with a drink of your choice. When you drop off your child, We require you to fill out the register in the classroom and provide us with a contact phone number in case of an emergency. During the art club, our cafe will be open serving teas and coffees to purchase. A great opportunity to maybe meet other parents and relax in the adjacent room to the classroom. Isabelle is an artist based in West Norfolk. She creates drawings of the beautiful Norfolk coast, historical ruins and towns. She works in graphite/colour pencil and soft pastel. Isabelle also works as a teaching assistant and is available for 1 to 1 or small groups, teaching art and specifically drawing skills to children, which can be booked through Norfolk Creative Arts. Isabelle runs children’s art clubs using a wide range of media. Her ethos is one of wanting every child to have fun and not be worried about taking a creative risk. Keith Powell a local landscape, wildlife and still life artist and enjoys painting in a realistic style and is influenced by the chiaroscuro lighting effect of the old masters still life paintings. He exhibits locally and is a member of the West Norfolk Artist Association, Art21 and the Wash Art Group. His class will be led by example and demonstration with Keith painting at the beginning and then assisting the group with their work. You can paint from images supplied or bring one of your own. Subject matter will vary. Painting with oil on canvas continues to be a favoured choice because of its long-lasting colour and the variety of approaches and methods. Oil paints may have been used as far back as the 13th century. Oil paintings do not require glass and a box canvas can be hung on the wall without need of a frame. Easily removed from the canvas, oil allows the artist to revise a work; paint can be placed on top of acrylic; it can be used straight from the tube and applied with a palette knife for texture or used as a thin glaze. Only non toxic, natural brush cleaning solvents will be used in this class as turpentine and white spirit can cause headaches. £46.25 (inclusive of VAT) -
Join Pippa to get to know your sewing machine, start that project or maybe get one finished. Pippa is on hand to get you over the tricky bits so that you don’t get too frustrated or confused. She’ll explain what that odd looking machine foot is for and demonstrate those tricky techniques as they come up. Translating sewing instructions has become a mainstay in her classes putting the technical into plain language. Sewing is a visual thing and although notes will be available for some techniques, the practical act will be more used. You will need to supply your own machine, pattern and fabric. If you’re just starting out, Pippa will lead you through the basics by completing a simple project like a cushion cover or something similar. Just turn up with an open mind, wearing painting clothes. You are welcome to bring A4 print-outs of images you’d like to paint onto the glass or images will be provided to work from and inspire you. You will be guided step by step by Emma, through the Victorian layering glass painting method to produce beautiful 6”x6” glass paintings of your own. You will be amazed what you can do with these ancient techniques and Emma will show you the different brushes and materials to use and how to reproduce nature and form.
Each Student will be painting onto glass that is laid on light boxes. Students will have the opportunity to make several glass paintings during the workshop.
One of those glass paintings (for an extra £20 paid directly to Emma) can be fired in a kiln after the workshop, framed with half-inch lead and delivery arranged.

You will leave having some understanding of how to create a 2-dimensional image and a basic 3-dimensional piece, with tips shared during the course of the day, and the opportunity to make an image or small sculpture.

Using just three primary colours and white artist Graham Webber ROI IEA will guide you through his fresh and enjoyable approach to oil painting. Working on a view from the North Norfolk coastline you will learn how to use basic colour theory to mix a variety of natural landscape colours. You will be taken through the painting process in three easy stages with demonstrations of each stage and the chance to develop your own work throughout the day.
Help and guidance will be on hand during the day and reference material will be provided although you are welcome to bring your own references if you would like.
Some experience of drawing and painting would be useful but no previous experience in oil is necessary.

Come along and make a silver, copper or brass bangle with a patterned texture of your choice. This will be a cuff/open style bangle and during the class you will learn various different jewellery making techniques such as hammering and forming and make your own finished piece of jewellery. If you choose to make your bangle out of copper or brass then the cost is included. If you choose to make it out of silver then there will be an additional charge of roughly £45 - £50 depending on size and price at the time of the workshop. We will need to know before the workshop what you decide and if you choose silver then you will pay direct to Sara. Sara originally trained at university in fine art and ceramics but wanted to do a creative subject at home in a smaller space so taught herself silversmithing. She then qualified in the subject and started The Argentum Design Company. Sara has been teaching the subject for about 10 years as well as all other forms of jewellery making such as enamelling, polymer clay and chain mail. Sara also works as a technical consultant for city and guilds developing silversmithing and jewellery courses for colleges around the world. All tools are supplied with the workshop.
