Vanessa Stone is a collage artist that produces bold and delicate cut paper collages using a scalpel to draw into layers of paper. Her work is an abstraction of the land and townscapes around her, capturing the essence of the place with multiple layers intricately cut away. She uses beautiful drawing papers and hand painted papers in her collages. She has built a reputation for her Cambridge based pieces of punts and Cambridge landmarks and has been represented at Byard Art in Cambridge for the past ten years. She is regularly commissioned and has her work in private collections in the UK, USA, Netherlands and Norway. Her studio is on the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire border.
Vanessa has run workshops for all ages and in all places from art galleries, museums, schools and festivals. She is trained in running arts projects and residencies from two post graduate diploma’s from Anglia Ruskin as well as a fully qualified Arts Award advisor from discovery & Explore to Gold level. Her original specialism was in textiles as she trained in Carpet and Rug design, so is widely experienced in making and designing textiles for industry and the hand made market.
